There are many useful design tools to be found on the
internet and I have no intention of writing new ones. However, here are links
to those that I have found most useful. This does not, of course, imply any
endorsement or accept any liability for errors incurred in their use.
Look at the CHE Resources Free
Software page for a good reference source of online calculators. Other

 Reynolds Number
This calculator quickly gives you the Reynolds Number for a flow over a
plate or a flow in a pipe.
 Pipe Friction
This calculator tells you the Reynolds
number, pressure drop, and flow rate for a constant crosssection pipe.
 Venturi Flowmeter
This calculator outputs the flowrate through a venturi
constriction for a given pressure drop.

 OnLine Friction Piping Loss
Rigorous calculation of the pressure loss for flowing liquids, based on
liquid properties, flow, and piping configuration (pipe length,
fittings, and valves). Results can be printed out or "cut and
paste" into other applications.
 Online Compressible Flow
Pressure Loss Rigorous calculation of the
pressure loss for flowing gases, based on as properties, flow, and
piping configuration (pipe length, fittings, and valves). Results can be
printed out or "cut and paste" into other applications.
 OnLine Liquid Friction Loss
for any Pipe Size This application determines
the pressure loss due to friction in any sized straight pipe or tube.
This is useful when dealing with very small piping or tubing or for flow
though small channels. This application is only applicable for straight
pipes, and cannot accommodate losses due to fittings and valves (it does
include inlet and outlet losses though). If standard sized piping is
being used then the application above "OnLine Friction Piping
Loss" should be used.
 OnLine Gas Friction Loss for
any Pipe Size This application determines
the compressible gas pressure loss due to friction in any sized straight
pipe or tube. This is useful when dealing with very small piping or
tubing or for flow though small channels. This application is only
applicable for straight pipes, and cannot accommodate losses due to
fittings and valves (it does include inlet and outlet losses though). If
standard sized piping is being used then the application above
